love to see a bunch of ecology posts on my feed <3 im not going to go off about it again until next year but here are my two wildly polarized views on invasive insects:

#sorry my ‘insect rights activist’ thing doesn’t usually come up but when it does my self control goes right out the window#repeating ‘i will no longer fight with people on the internet over bugs’ to myself over and over again#either people will eventually figure it out (choosing to focus on the immeasurable joy the slow come-around ppl have had about honeybees has brought me) or they won’t and i can’t personally change it!#one thing i do actually insist on though: everyone needs to seriously internalize that insects are individual animals. they aren’t robots they aren’t a collective organism - each insect is an animal in its own right#which sounds silly because yeah of course they are - but in my experience people (even entomologists) usually do not consider them individually and that makes it very hard to have any basic fucking empathy for them
