A conversation a while back and some posts today about older computer equipment/wifi routers got me reminiscing on the weird DSL internet service I had for the longest time. I remember hearing at the time that DSL unlike our older dial-up wasn't supposed to knock out your connection when a phone call came in, but ours did. But the weirdest thing was that it didn't go entirely out when receiving a phone call... it'd go out in sync with every ring from the phone, and reconnect between each gap. When the answering machine picked up the message, or someone picked up the phone, it'd go out long enough to entirely knock me from a TF2 game. But I had this weirdest little period to warn my friends I was about to get disconnected between each ring as the call was coming in. I still wonder to this day how exactly that worked.
