My experience with university may have been cut short, in no small part to Ontario's asshole premier cutting tuition grants to low-income students, but one thing that has stuck to me to this day was my Greek and Roman history class. My professor was just so clearly passionate about the subject, so animated and thrilled to get us to engage with it! Discussed all the ugliness in the subject too, encouraged us to criticize some of the more problematic elements and the parallels they have to certain backwards views today. The Greek stuff really stuck with me in particular, and every time something I remember from that class comes up in Hades, I feel a little sparkle of that passion, I still really love a lot of the stories.
...I prop up one of my computer monitors with my old Greek history textbooks. Maybe I should open that up again sometime.
