hello cohost, as is the usual ST is not great about making it clear we're going to have some major disruptions for necessary trackwork this month and next (May-June 2024) so I am, again, writing up a little guide

Edit: This is only for the 1 Line, the 2 Line (Bellevue) will not be affected

Minor Disruption:

  • On May 7, May 14, May 28, June 4, June 11, and June 25 (note these are all Tuesdays) after 11 PM trains will be reduced to every twenty minutes

Moderate Disruption:

  • On May 12 (until 12 PM), June 1 (all day), June 2 (until 10 AM), and June 22 (all day) there will be no service between Angle Lake and SeaTac. Use the RapidRide line to connect between stations.
  • From May 12 - June 23, there will be intermittent closures between SeaTac and Angle Lake. Please keep an eye out for this one if you frequently ride to/from Angle Lake as no dates are firmly set yet.
  • June 1 - 2 Single tracking at Columbia City. Trains from Northgate to Stadium will run every 10 minutes and trains from Stadium to SeaTac will run every 20 minutes1

Major Disruption:

  • June 21 - 23 ALL DOWNTOWN STATIONS CLOSED starting at 10 PM on the 21st. A free bus shuttle will run between Capitol Hill and SoDo and all stations in between. Yes, it is homophobic to close Capitol Hill during pride month. Yes, I am also mad about this.

This is all in preparation for the new Lynnwood Link extension opening August 30th, ensuring that all trains run smoothly and we don't have to do any shutdowns right after the big opening. Please plan ahead and keep in mind alternative routes.

Edit (5/16): this is also for tie in work with the federal way extension which is why there are so many shutdowns of angle lake. everything else is just state of good repair work bundled in to make one big disruption instead of lots of little ones across the summer

  1. I'm not sure if this means there will be a transfer between trains at this station. It's possible but I'll update as I find out more.
