to me one of the core pieces of the "why do they call it oven" joke is that "oven" and "of in" both sound the same. when they replace "oven" and "food" but dont replace "of in" its like. it feels like an incomplete application of the joke. does anyone else feel this way? am i insane??

that’s the point — they almost finish the bit, but then it all falls apart and there’s no satisfying resolution, just a mess of half-rhymes
you're on to something with this. i think maybe some people don't realise the of in/oven connection and interpret it as utter gibberish (i definitely thought of it this way for a while)
