An update for all the lovely people who helped me out

  1. Doc says there's no downside so long as I'm not trying to look at stuff while I'm like outside, and that keeping them on all the time while indoors (and thus relatively close to everything I'm seeing) might actually help because my eyes won't have to readjust and refocus multiple times as I take them on and off through the day
  2. Screens most likely look fuzzy and everything has a kind of halo effect because my eye muscles still aren't used to relaxing yet! This should get better the more I wear them. If it's not better in like a week, she may've made my prescription just slightly too strong (she increased it by 0.25 diopters because it's for computer work) and I can go in and have the lenses replaced for free
  3. Everything looking blurry will also likely fade (or not fade) for the reasons in #3
  4. She misspoke! I don't have an astigmatism, which explains why there was nothing correcting for it lol
  5. See #1 :)
  6. I didn't even ask about this

Thank you so much everybody who took the time to answer!!! I really appreciated it so much, you were all extremely helpful <3

in reply to @asher's post:

  1. I'm nearsighted, I used to wear glasses, and I took them off to read. I think my optometrist recommended that because wearing my glasses while focused on things near to me for extended periods would worsen my vision. I don't have an actual explanation of how that happens, though

hey that's a very similar prescription to me but backwards! congrats on specs!

  1. because you do lose some like... eye muscle fitness if you do this (@sedge explains it better) and your Rx can creep up over time / your glasses won't feel like they help as much / you'll get a headache if you try to stop wearing them all the time. all of this happened to me. counterpoint: frankly glasses are expensive and fragile and easily misplaced. safest location they could possibly be is on my face imo

  2. I only experience this without glasses, so I can't comment! refer to (4)

  3. yep you're adjusting! but see (4)

  4. it can be. if you're having headaches or vision issues after a couple weeks def do call your doc!

  5. see (1)

  6. I have never had high index lenses and I've always been perfectly happy with my lenses. if you did go for high index, maybe that's why you're seeing the blurriness? everyone I know who wears high index lenses is legally blind without their glasses.

Thank you for responding!!

Yeah, I’m very forgetful and if I don’t have something literally on my person at any given time it might as well be in the void. Also? I look very good in glasses lol

And that’s good to know- Because of the aforementioned forgetfulness, I got a backup pair from the internet and it was like “you need 1.61 high index lenses!” and I figured that was Incorrect and just a ploy to get more money from folks.
