One hack I do with this is instead of saying "I like [x] because I'm trash" I say "I like [x] because I have great taste". Just a small thing to help undo cringing at yourself but it goes a long way.

its an uphill battle and i sometimes forget to do this, but i've been telling myself i'm the hottest person alive and always objectively correct in everything when i spectacularly fuck up and eat shit. the disproportionately self-aggrandizing statements give it extra comedic value, in my not-so-humble opinion, but sometimes i am concerned that i might be unbalancing the positivity-negativity scales in the opposite direction.

Stuff I struggle with especially when my interests are so niche (shmups) or possibly even maligned (mobile games) and there is this recent pop culture attitude of "i wish i could say i don't care and leave the conversation"
