i don't feel like my opinion on cohost has really changed that much since i fully migrated here, so i don't really have much to say about it now. i think the staff here are doing a decent job at delivering the kind of site they set out to make. obviously their vision of this website doesn't line up with my own vision of what it could/should be; but there's no accounting for taste, as they say. kinda hate how the header bar wraps to the very edge of the window, but beyond being a little annoying, it's not a dealbreaker compared to my grievances with other websites.
idk, i sometimes feel like people don't quantify problems and flatten their effects when that makes little sense. cohost's header bar sucks, but tumblr's ui literally doesn't work unless i turn off my ad-blocker. i don't think i need to stress which of those is worse. some of the posts criticizing cohost's design decisions aren't things i disagree with, really, but most of them seem like nitpicks compared to some of the design choices on bluesky, twitter, facebook, etc. i think there's a keen difference between a team trying to do the best they can with what they have and a team that has all the resources it needs but refuses to act in its community's interests because of shareholders and whatnot. surely, those teams that belong to the former deserve more grace than endless misery-posting about their site's prospects.
