Been trying to think of a less cool sword and every time I consider one my Swords And Sorcery writing brain puts it into a scene and I think "that might be kind of cool actually".
You hear about the 1796 pattern spadroon, think "ha ha," then picture it in someone's hand, much better. And it's a poor sword with a dorky name!
