was talking with my therapist today about how hard it is to get a nice pair of "women's" shoes that aren't uncomfortably narrow, and it's making me wonder why they're crafted that way. like is there really such a difference in foot size that necessitates "women's" and "men's" shoes be designed like that, or is this some weird patriarchal nonsense beauty standard?

like it does seem like fashionable designs often sacrifice comfort for looks, which i can understand to a certain extent. but idk. i know feet are just not built for heels, but surely there's a way to balance aesthetics with comfort to accomodate women with bigger feet... and if that's not how the fashion designers feel, they may be due for a sound drubbing
