In an effort to back up my stuff from tumblr, I'm going to be reuploading my cospaly pics from over the years and reminiscing, from the oldest ones to the ones currently in my lineup!
This one, from minute one, was just done just for me. I knew almost nobody would recognize it, and I've only worn it to one or two events, but Mei from Fukaboku is a character who just means the world to me. Seeing her come to terms with her gender and find joy in being a girl was the thing to finally crack my own egg; I'd been tossing the idea around for a while, presenting as a girl at cons, but the combination of lockdown taking away that outlet and seeing how happy it made her made me realize that's what I wanted, too! So by the time I got the cosplay finished and these photos taken, I already had my appointment to go get HRT set!
The cosplay itself was fairly easy to make; gray undershirt with some black bias tape for the sleeves, with another black dress shirt modified for the apron, and just some ruffles added to the skirt. The part I could have done better was the white part of the apron; the downside of T-shirt fabric is it's tough to get it to hold the shape you want, and if I had used a different material and cut it larger, it would probably have looked better. But you only learn through experience!
