They're so funky!! (And I feel they've been done dirty by a lot of popular media and toys, basically depicting them as T-rexes with a funny back fin - they're way weirder than that!)
One of my favourite things about dinosaurs is how little we know about them, and the often long process to get to know more! This article describes some recent development: basically the hot debate seem to be how aquatic (if at all) Spinosaurus was. Based on a recent find of a tail it seems to have been somewhat aquatic: "the tall, fin-like tail of Spinosaurus looked more like that of a supersized alligator or newt than that of T. rex." A very dangerous newt for sure! The fact that scientists can even have this debate now is incredible; the original Spinosaurus specimen was lost during Allied bombing of Germany in WW2. In the 2010s however, new more complete specimens have been found, sparking the whole aquatic-or-not debate. Spinosaurus is not the first dinosaur to be the subject of such a debate - scientists went back and forth on whether Diplodocus' lived in water of not for a long time.
Hope you have a nice day anon ππ¦
