the downside of making a lot of oc stuff is that i have nothing for an upcoming anime convention (aside from some leftover mikus arknights and project moon stuff but 2/3 of those are pretty niche for australia in my experience...)

YES TABLING i shouldve been more specific but that's a good idea... i'm pretty shy during conventions but i should really talk more LOL
whats worked for me so far is making stickers of my ocs with funny captions and people usually like it. though ive found that when i make prints ive overheard people say "idk this character though..." and walk away before i can say anything
