why does typing on ios suck so bad. why won't SwiftKey for ios let me reconfigure my keyboard to be normal. why can't I hold down keys to get symbols except for the one thing I shouldn't have to, a comma. why do I have to page though the keyboard like a fucking caveman. why can't I change the key height.

and why is the stock keyboard even worse

I need a demoscene coder to make me a keyboard with a comma key and symbols on all keys with long press

it had a two-handed swiping model where you had to insert spaces manually (or wait for a timeout) but you could decompose words into as many swipes and taps as you’d like, including swiping with both thumbs at once, getting some letters with one thumb and the rest with the other. really magical experience, incredibly efficient, much less strenuous than “swipe the whole word at once with one finger”. i miss it

video of nintype in action (yes it has soft-body physics, yes it’s as good and as goofy as it looks): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M6DS9Gyf2LM%3D%3D

thinking about how the computer keyboard would have never been invented today due to the up-front effort required in learning to type. it’s one of the most efficient input devices imaginable (other than like, chorded keyboards) and nearly everyone tries to avoid them as much as possible
