WHY DOES THIS FUCKING IPHONE KEEP SETTING ITSELF TO MAXIMUM VOLUME WITH NO INPUT FROM ME AND DEAFENING ME WITH NOTIFICATIONS AND PODCASTS IN MY EARPHONES. IS IT MY ENEMY?

I reduced the ringtone and alerts volume to a nice level, verified it was correct when a friend messaged me, turned off "change with buttons," friend messaged me again and it was fine, I walked into another room looking at something on the phone, same friend messages me again and it plays FOUR TIMES AS LOUD

I'm going to ram raid their stupid glass headquarters and personally chuck this fucking telephone at Tim Apple's head if this shit keeps up

This may have been "attention aware features" detecting I wasn't looking directly at the phone and deciding to fire a gun next to my ear as a funny prank, or to teach me a lesson. One toggle controls both "deafen you if you're not looking at the phone" and "don't turn the screen off if you're looking at something"

Is it like the google assistant thingie that seems to constantly confuse me telling it to turn the lights on (which is what I use it for) with me commanding to turn its volume all the way up to max (which I have never wanted it to do, ever) so it BEEPS REALLY LOUD while not doing what I told it to do?

i get this with spotify when it’s open but playing on another device - it somehow syncs the button-adjustable volume on my phone to the remote device’s volume level, without affecting the actual local volume which it seemingly manages to restore and give you button control over when you play something locally. but then it will often massively fuck up and when switching devices or closing spotify fail to restore the volume and boom i’m deaf

you might find some SOME recourse by disconnecting the Bluetooth headset from the phone, pushing volume down on the headset a bunch and then connecting again.

"enable absolute volume" is the setting that prevents these from getting desynched on Android, dunno about ios.

but yeah rrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:C

this is very dumb and i don't have an iPhone to test but i wonder if disabling volume with buttons is making the headset fall back to its internal volume if it starts going into idle sleep whereas volume control with buttons might link the two
