my 3d skills have entered their "hard takeoff" era. i am no longer desperately flailing around and fighting against systems i don't understand. i am now looking at problems and coming up with ways to solve them, and having ideas and coming up with ways to implement them. i thought i could never learn this stuff

that said: if i can't get my avatar's eyes to move i will Fucking Lose It. the eye bones are correct, the animations aren't touching them, the transforms are linked right, rotation states are right, no eye tracking attached. i have tried every single thing i can think of

the base i'm building the avatar off has working eyes. none of mine do and i built them on the same model initially and i can't tell what changed.

after 10 total hours of work on this problem it turns out the solution was to assign a mesh to the "eyelids mesh" slot on the avatar descriptor.

there wasn't one assigned in the avatar base and the eyes worked fine. so what the fuck
