in reply to @atomicthumbs's post:

This site got a reputation for being sensitive but in many ways that's exactly what people should be: earnest, engaged, not numb and inured to all the bullshit and dark social patterns we see elsewhere.

I'm hoping I get a blog and RSS set up in the next three weeks because, yeah, nothing else really worth using.

Why would I spend my time at a place that makes me feel awful? What places exist that don't now function by making me feel just awful enough to keep me attached?

Kinda where I'm at, but I'm trying to leave the door open a crack. We still have three weeks left here for people to decide on and talk about where they're going and why and how. I know I won't have the stamina or the spoons to keep up with everyone I followed here on every disparate site they go to, and that does suck. But maybe instead of giving up entirely again, I'll be able to find somewhere online to take refuge. Where I can share about projects and get inspired by others and laugh at silly jokes, even if it's just a small seed of what we have here. Seeds can grow into beautiful new things.

It hurts because I feel this describes me. I checked on twitter, and its nothing but bigots dunking on 'acceptable' targets, I check bluesky and its rife with the same dynamics I hated about twitter with infighting and 'them or us' style feuds. Mastodon's social etiquette is impenetrable and reminds me of the linux forums of old: That if you struggle with it, then its not for you. Tumblr I have my own problems with.

But all in all, Cohost was the best of all possible sites, and it wasn't even close. I'm not going to go back to any of them, I deleted my bluesky after a month on there. Its just personal site or bust.
