  1. cutscenes must be done in-engine. objects cannot be spawned in and then de-spawned explicitly for the purpose of being in a cutscene
  2. sounds must originate from in-game objects
  3. the camera must be controlled by the game
  4. the game must be in color. colored lighting is not acceptable
  5. post-processing effects recreating a real-life camera are forbidden
  6. the game must not contain superficial elements (gear score, login bonuses, etc.)
  7. temporal and geographical alienation are forbidden (that is to say that the game cannot start at the most exciting moment and then jump back in time to set that moment up)
  8. genre standards are not acceptable (i.e. requiring metroidvanias to have a double jump)
  9. the game format must be offline single-player
  10. the publishing company must not be credited with creative decisions
