if a friend makes a post and another friend immediately shares the post i do not need to see the same post twice in a row, next to each other. i don't think anyone does

edit: c’est comme ça

edit: while you're here looking at this popular post a few times, check out the most popular feature request featuring post deduplication and my new timeline simplification feature request, both of which you can click "like" on if you like them, to help staff prioritize stuff

edit: they are working on it; still important to remember that cohost staff is only a few folks

in reply to @atomicthumbs's post:

I feel like, due to the nature of the website, asking for usability improvements on Cohost is a Monkey's Paw. Combining notifications did not actually prevent single viral chosts from blowing out your notifications about any other chost, just made the 50 notifications about the viral chost take up only two lines.

the multiple post issue is definitely compounded by the organic way people build up the accounts they're following meaning that there's often much higher (I think) overlaps than there might be on other larger places. One of the reasons I so rarely rebug things as I tend to binge-catch up to back 4-digit posts ago so I really notice when things are shared a lot(!)
