a big part of being trans online is not relating to 90% of relatable trans posts & that's ok

i was never able to get into fallout new vegas and every time someone online talks about it as a Trans Experience® it gives me hives

we aren't a "catgirl, blahaj, fallout new vegas" trans girl, we're a "ghidra, bus pirate, and oscilloscope" trans girl

@aune

this has been going on for as long as there have been trans people on the internet

i remember the in jokes, as they were called back 20 years ago, and they were always the most "no one outside of this community has ever heard of this" nonsense

the problem (like always) is that the internet has simultaneously gotten so much larger and so much more concentrated but i swear to you there are still pockets out there who have never heard of a new vegas but think that being trans means something like being the lights director of a small local theater group because it sure is weird that the last 3 all ended up coming out

in reply to @aune's post:

the thing that bothers us is not the generalization, but the shockingly common insistence that we simply must, if we are to be Truly Trans, in this person's eyes, must play Fallout New Vegas. The last time someone told this to us, we replied with "oh, no, you simply must back up your system to a tape drive!"

ugh

i guess in their eyes the reason my gender is so fucked is because i've never been able to get the game stable enough to run for more than 15 minutes at a time

seriously though i'm so goddamn tired of people being like this, sorry yall have run into it so often :|
