not only is it horrifying that there's a major COVID wave brewing, it's doubly horrifying that the reported case data doesn't reflect it at all so denalists and the uninformed will be acting like everything is super safe when it super isn't

my favorite part of this graph is noticing how the lows keep getting higher, and higher, and higher...

Every time I look at this graph, I get hit with the realization that basically the lowest point since the beginning of the pandemic was summer 2021. Those wastewater numbers for 2022 really help explain why I spent most of last year feeling increasingly anxious and barely remember anything.

And yeah, the very little media coverage I've seen has basically said "hospitalizations are up, but cases aren't!" No shit, I wonder why.

When my roommate and I had a covid scare at the start of July, the local hospital had just shut town its offsite testing centre and there was only a single pharmacy in town that had rapid COVID tests available (Rob Ford had ended the program that distributed them for free and nobody was willing to use their own funds to keep their shelved stocked).

There's basically no way for your average Ontarian to provably know unless they get so sick that they're sent to the emergency room.
