"Aang has a vision and feels driven to get to the north water tribe to save the worl-"
oh no
this has big RWBY vibes (negative) or netflix Cowboy Bebop
like i enjoy RWBY for what it is but oh no
While I agree that there are no good signs re: netflix ATLA live action, I also feel it's relevant to remind that Aang had lots of visions in the original show. So that's probably not what's actually the problem here.
"vision" is not the concerning part to me compared to "aang is driven to protect everyone as the avatar" from the get-go
It does skip a bit of the arc as far as character development. Yet I could see a retelling of the story having different character arcs and being good.
I just don't have faith in Netflix to make that happen here. It does not feel like they respect the characters or story and so I expect nothing special, generic execution, and thus there is no chance it'll live up to the truly inspired original telling of this story. To me it's not any one thing, it's the holistic feel of many small things adding up.
