I think everyone unimpressed with the Apple Vision Pro but talking about it like "if this catches on", like there's any ambiguity, needs to have a bit more faith in themselves. Nobody wants to look the fool when in a year everyone's wearing these things all the time, sure. But come on. It's not going to happen. The thing is useless, you look like a twat in it, it costs Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars, Apple owns it, it's fucking doomed. 3D TV never stood a chance and that was a more meaningful experience. VR's basically dead, AR's of fundamentally less value than that. Must we pretend this is even gonna flail around for another two years before getting canned? C'mon now
I got 3D clip-on glasses this week to use with virtual boy emulation and I can tell you with 100% certainty that I do not see any possibility where the vision pro actually catches on. It is quite possibly the dumbest sales pitch I've ever seen
Especially when the marketing is just barely on this side of 'don't invent the torment nexus' jokes with all its "hey remember when some guy in your favorite movie put on goggles? this is just like that except it costs two months' rent"
Every seven years since the 80s someone tries to sell us VR/AR glasses. Remember the stereo 3D glasses for the fucking Sega Master System? No one wants this crap, no one ever wants this crap, people who wear Apple Jerkglasses in public will never be more than a handful of losers spending their parents' or employees' money who are also in a deep and meaningful relationship with an AI Girlfriend they found through an ad on Youtube
i realize the people pushing it were even more laughably out of touch but if google glass, literally the most visibly unintrusive version of this garbage imaginable, failed to get people to not get shouted out of rooms / made fun of, i don't think anything else has a chance, because i do not actually believe technology is capable of advancing enough to break the threshold
