pdx queer dev, now an Old

a coworker and i have similar first names, one letter off from each other

it has been a cute recurring joke for like 10+ years now that people get us confused and accidentally send stuff to the wrong one of us

it's fine! it's very funny! he's a dude who is like a foot taller than me!

...................... but when QA on a project we're both on gets us mixed up for 6+ months into the project it gives me an incredibly negative perception of their skill at QA. I dunno. It's not exactly a huge issue but incorrectly assigning every single ticket even after being corrected for months feels like one hell of a microaggression or SOMETHING.

in reply to @aune's post:

the worst part is it should be autoassigning the correct one of us, considering they're making tickets off stories that were assigned to one of us originally and if it isn't doing that correctly the name is still right there

fuck that noiseeeeeeeeeeeeeee, like after the third correction how do you not die of embarassment??

An old teammate and I are both legally named Mike but had different names in use at work (he considered his a handle rather than his true name but insisted on it at work since there were too many Mikes) and someone once tried to refer to us as "The Mikes" and I had to shut that shit down real quick and immediately. I mentioned to my boss in a DM "I might've been a bit terse there" and his response was "no that shit is poison you were right to go hard on it"
