"do you want a solution to your problem or do you just want to yell at people" is a question you always need to ask yourself if you're railing against some social slight against you

[x] thing makes this website inaccessible to me, please fix it"

"it's a pretty broad task to fix [x], so here's a browser addon that can solve it for you in the meantime and in case it can't be fixed"

"telling me to use a browser addon specifically made to make [x] more accessible is ableist, i care more about yelling at people to change than solving the problem i'm having"

if someone is at that point of being shocked that someone would suggest them a solution that takes half a dozen clicks to install and solve the problem for them forever, they're not engaging in good faith with the problem and aren't really worth discussing it with.

they just want to yell at people, and you can't solve their problem by letting them yell at you.

block and move on.

in reply to @auramgold's post:

i apologize if im saying this in a bad way/missing something Very Obvious but while i dont exactly have a horse in this race i did note that- in the specific case i've seen recently- the yinglet translators i've seen around tend to fail on quite a few words, especially when the "zh" is an infix. would it be a big hassle to add a separate version without the quirk and put it in a or somesuch? genuinely asking to be clear, i'm unsure whether it would be

HTML isn't designed for captions on text like that and anything for that is going to be a massive pain that'll be incredibly fragile across different screenreaders implementing things differently

also tbf i think it's kind of onerous to tell someone who always types like that that every time they post some small thing like "went to zhe grocery store today, zhat wasn't fun" that they not only have to tag it with something searchable for something they might not want searchable, but also have to go to the trouble of typing out a css crime on a phone? that's not a practical solution to do every time on someone's personal social media page without critical information

like it'd be different if this were a government agency doing extreme weather warnings in quirk but this is literally just randos on the internet

basically tl;dr as you were worried, it'd be more hassle than it's worth

ah yeah understandable. forgot people use phones, lol

and yeah, makes sense; i was hoping it'd be about as annoying as typing like. alt text for pictures, where most of the time it's feasible, but manually going thru something and replacing every single thing that needs to be replaced is always gonna be more annoying than going "ok here's the thing that i'm pointing out in this picture" aha...

def ends up as the niche of, er, "if you're doing something you want spread it might be worth it but most of the time it's not" i suppose

ty for responding, i realize now i may have come off a little as "i'm Just Asking Questions, definitely not trying to rile you up :) :) :)" apologies
