you mentioned this recently and i forgot about it, i should get to it
yeah dude I think you specifically would get a kick out of it. it's one of the most bluff city movies i've ever seen. it's a neo-noir crime road trip rock opera
willem dafoe stepping out of the shadows during the opening song and you see his hair one of the hardest things ever. it’s so fucking awesome dude
He spend like half the movie carrying a pipe wrench around and wearing a suspenders with no shirt under them, its absolutely incredible
Streets of Fire has been on my watch list ever since the HDTGM episode on it. The way they describe Rick Moranis makes it sound like a must watch
It feels like the only reason this film didn't become a huge hit is because Michael Paré's character is pretty unremarkable and mostly dislikeable! Everyone else has something cool going on.
It was obviously pretty influential for some people though! For those of you that haven't see the Bubblegum Crisis opening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an_0IIRDlc4
Yeah but that's part of why this movie rules. He's miserable. Hot but absolutely unlovable. A tryhard with a cool gun and a "bad attitude" that is actually bad and not just Smooth. He is constantly refusing to be an actually good guy action hero.
finally watched this over the weekend after seeing your posts about it and wow - thanks for reccing it so hard
