i know yall are only just starting your ito unit and your next one is a ways away, but is the song of ice and fire series on y’all’s radar for a future shelved by genre unit?
We get a lot of questions about whether series A or book B are things we'd consider. On a recent bonus ep, I thnk a Q&A one maybe, we laid out what our criteria was:
- Fiction, generally inside of what is commonly called the "genre" category, though we are expansive in how we're treating that and eager to be playful with its boundaries.
- Nothing that is part of an active religous movement, regardless of if some readers consider the work to be "fictitious"
- Something the three of us are interested in and think would make for good podcast material.
If it fits that description, it's something that is "on the radar." Unfortunately for everyone (including us), that means that there is endless competition for various personal faves to make the cut.
More broadly: We do not have a secret schedule. We do not have secret criteria. There is nothing on the books or explicitly planned out into the future. So unfortunately, the answer to this (totally valid, totally understandable) type of question is always going to be "Yeah, seems like we could do that one day!" and almost never going to get to be the very pleasant "stay tuned ;)" we wish it could be.
