autism is an epidemic increasing at an alarming rate due to vaccines and big soy unless you claim to be autistic in which case too many people are being diagnosed and you're faking it for attention

Hi I'm Dana, I mostly just tool around with friends, play RPGs, and listen to podcasts, but I've also been known to make podcasts at SuperIdols! RPG and I've written a couple of short rpgs at my itch page and on twitter.
autism is an epidemic increasing at an alarming rate due to vaccines and big soy unless you claim to be autistic in which case too many people are being diagnosed and you're faking it for attention
a nontraditional example of "the enemy is both strong and weak," but an example nonetheless.
sigh
When you've named the devil, he sure does like to wave back doesn't he
It's more of a personal observation for me. I always disliked this flavor of hypocrisy but when I read Eco's work and how he generalized it more, it's so obvious how dang pervasive this all is, and it's all exactly what authoritarians work off of. It's the devil they want to make a deal with.
everything that must be true for them to be right and justified is true for them in that moment, independent of all other considerations, facts, and moments in time
"your child might get autism" is insufficiently terrifying if autism includes people who are out there living their lives and doing okay
i am so good at autism that all the soccer moms are scared of me and my powers (being autistic)
Sometimes I wonder if it's like, the nebulous essence of autism is increasing, but when someone claims to be autistic, they're put a human face to it, and well, a human being somewhat different/unusual isn't scary enough? So they absolutely can't be. The nebulous essence of autism is something from a horror movie, Joe down the street is just. Joe.
Did that make any sense?
Yep, totally cogent, especially in light of the "it's a twist on the fascist dichotomy of a simultaneously overwhelmingly powerful and absuedly weak foe" comment up above.
The second you humanize autism, the entire argument completely falls apart. Autistic People must be anonymized or else the basic trigger for human empathy kicks in and the game is over.
