Despite my dallying the previous day, it is perhaps for the best that I was able to wake early and spend the morning in Paris before we found out next leave, and see the World's Fair. I was filled with memories of a scarred past - for the city and myself - and prickling sensation of the future to come. I speculated that I am unsuited for the pace of such a journey, but seeing the incredible airships and technology on display, I wonder if this journey is what I need, as well as M. Fogg. He is normally a man of precision and routine, while I had thought myself to have had enough of excitement after the war. But neither of us truly knows what else we will encounter. What new wonders and forms of transport we will employ?
Energized by these thoughts, I chartered a private car to Berlin, planning to sell some of the goods that we had acquired in Paris. The driver was impressive in her speed, if not the gentleness of the ride, and I wondered if, in another life, I could have been a driver rather than a valet.
