someone i have never met and will never meet is getting very excited about watching a semi-obscure movie from 1978

you ever looked at Soulseek incoming searches? just like a constant stream of people looking for... stuff. general stuff, specific stuff, all just... enjoying the things they enjoy and looking for more of it.

I kept a torrent of Ned, an obscure early 2000's Australian comedy, active for 4 years before it finally completed last month.

Yes, this! I have a torrent of a long out of print unremarkable sci-fi book series I read in the late 80s and every now and then it seeds and it makes me very happy.
