It keeps going around that people are hounding Harada to add a Waffle House stage to Tekken 8, and he's indulging them as far as asking for explanations after he's already said no. I imagine it's only because the game's producer is willing to directly engage with fans in English that they've settled on Tekken 8 as the vector for manifesting this meme into reality, because at the start, "a Waffle House parking lot should be a fighting game stage" had nothing to do with Tekken specifically.
And it keeps striking me that, as fighting games go, Tekken 8's prestigious pedigree and opulent production value make it a poor fit for the down-home appeal of Waffle House. With that thought stuck in my mind, I've had to compare and contrast it with the games around it, and attempt to quantify what factors would make for a better match (or a worse one). From there, this chart practically made itself.
