Rick and I continue our journey through Hunter x Hunter and boy oh boy is it good. Togashi's endless creativity is on full display here. As a lover of training arcs, I think Greed Island has some of the series best moments so far. We also are seeing more of the dark side to Gon's stubbornness and drive, but I don't want to spoil too much here.

If you hit the read more, you'll jump into a big ol image gallery of stuff Rick and I were sending to each other during our conversation, but before you do a small programming note. We were originally going to take a week's break to talk about something else after this episode before getting into Chimera Ant, but we changed our minds. We're both just so engrossed in HxH that we want to see it through to the end right away. As a matter of fact, we've already recorded episode 26, so stay tuned for that later this week. All that to say, if YOU have questions for us about Hunter x Hunter, we'd love to answer some in an upcoming episode. Either comment with your questions here or email us at exportaudiopodcast@gmail.com. Anyway! onto the gallery.
First, a ludicrous image of early 00s Saint Seiya silliness

Gon and Killua buy a map

Bisky beats some ass. Bisky is one of the greatest characters in all of fiction.

Togashi stunts on Kishimoto by doing some great Narutos. Drawing on model is for amateurs.

Killua beats this dude's ass so hard

Razor stares down Gon and Gon takes the challenge

Forgive the blurry screenshot, I just needed to highlight that Ging looks like Yusuke to such a degree it has to be intentional.

And last but not least, let's look at some of the pages Togashi redrew for the collected editions of the manga. Many people complain about the "low quality" of Hunter x Hunter's art which is just ridiculous to me. To me, one of the most compelling aspects of Togashi's work on HxH is his lines. Togashi is always mixing up the style of his line work to match the emotional content of a panel or page. I think his sense of economy while not losing out on legibility is masterful, and these original drawings from Weekly Shonen Jump are no exception. (okay maybe that crowd shot is an exception, i'll concede that one. still i think the page is fine overall.)
