I need somewhere to scream about the variety of club music genres presented in the cyberspace stages soundtrack! It's unbelievable!
Sonic Frontiers music spoilers below.
I've already expected to hear some hard going dubstep [4-1], or a drum'n'bass track that sounds like it came out on Hospital Records [1-2], or a smooth late-00s liquid drum'n'bass track [2-5], or an even smoother and mellower mid-00s liquid drum'n'bass track [4-2].
What I expected less was hearing these two trance/acid inspired tracks: the one that makes me feel very nostalgic for the year 2000 [2-2], and the one that screams KORG all over [2-3]. Or this amazing glitchy IDM sounding track [3-4] that has some great Plaid-esque vibes and the one I could definitely imagine in a Warp Records playlist.
But what I totally didn't expect were the following things:
-
A whole damn future bass track like it's 2015 outside?? [3-6] Something that I could definitely hear on Trekkie Trax or Maltine Records?
-
A real breakbeat hardcore track with proper rave stabs?? [2-4] *O__O*
-
And, of course, this Chicago footwork inspired fucking king of a track [3-5]. Like, what the actual fuck, this is my wildest dream coming true.
And that's me not even beginning to gush about all the cool metalcore songs this game has!!
