This month I launched the PIZZA PRANKS Videogame Tape Club a monthly, a monthly physical release of indie games in the little cassette case & USB stick format that I like!

This month's release is An Outcry by Quinn K.

The next month's releases are:
April: Roguelike - Maniacal chess
May: Action - Romantic boss rush

You van get this month and sign up for future months here!

Trying stuff with this tape format (or zette, i'm no format boss) is my way of trying to help push an affordable DIY format for game publishing. This is also very likely the endpoint of me coming up with New Projects. I can only do so much as one person.

But I also don't have any sort of particular end goal. I'm doing more publishing things because it's what I'm most used to after 4 years of doing and it's something I want to see more of. I'd love to go to more game events and be able to leave with a bunch of new cool games like when I go to the local indie comics show. The 'game event as demo event' has always been a weird norm to me that skews heavily to exhibitors who can afford spend money purely on advertising.

I don't think this tape format is any sort of money printing device or probably that most game events* are even suited for the sorts of alternative games I want to see more of. But who cares really, because I think they're cool and I like making them and like seeing them! And what is the point in doing something if not to be at least somewhat (largely?) self-indulgent?

*(also local flea markets, art markets, etc. are way cheaper and you can also sell games there)

Thanks!

Right now with the monthly tape club in particular I'm skewing towards paid games game that are maybe a little more commercial and a little higher profile as a way to win a more general audience over to the format. (but who knows how long i'll stick to that)

I do also have what I call the Tape Market (https://pizzapranks.com/tapemarket/) which is open to all games as something I'll sell on my online shop, sell at events, and/or sell to you directly. The application form is at the top of that page.

Semi-related, I also run Indiepocalypse, which is a monthly anthology of alternative games from 10 developers. That always has open submissions at http://indiepocalypse.com/submit (contributors are both paid upfront and in royalties)

Having a game in any one of these does not prevent even that same game from being in one of the others in the present or future.
