I've been playing through every hunting RPG in the build up to the release of Monster Hunter Wilds. I don't expect much from the new one, honestly, but this started because I found out I owned over half the hunting rpg's at the start of all of this. Having now played EVERY Monster Hunter... how the fuck did this become a franchise? I love the games, but gods if I started on Monster Hunter or Monster Hunter Freedom, I would never have played these again. I'm almost done with my replay of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and let me tell you, it feels like the series peaked with the 3DS. 3U, 4U, and Generations (Ultimate) are all fantastic. Meanwhile World feels boring (haven't played Iceborne yet) and while Rise fixed my issues with World, it felt too easy. I 100%'d the base village in less than 60 hours! I'll be ranking every Hunting RPG I beat when this is all done, but honestly? 3U and God Eater 3 so far are my top Hunting RPG's I've played.

Also if anyone is interested, here's the list I compiled: https://trello.com/b/UxgPl89W/monster-elimination-project

No Soul Sacrifice did not make the cut. So many people keep telling me to put it on the list but I've played it and it's not a hunting rpg. It's closer to Phantasy Star Online than it is to Monster Hunter.
