I know culture in Japan is different, but I see way too often men describing men in anime in ways that in my part of the world would be bi/gay/pan/any other part of the queer spectrum. Does that actually happen in Japan or is it just writers teasing female audiences with possible ships?
I'm listening to I'm Still Here from Treasure Planet and once again misheard the lyric "I'm a boy--no I'm a man" as "I'm a woman--No I'm a Man" which that one change completely changes this song into a trans masc anthem. No seriously, read the lyrics. This one simple change turns it into a transmasc finding themself and finding where they belong! Though I could also be reading into this a bit extra as a lot of the transmascs I've met have identified with Jim Hawkins so....
