honestly, after so many blockbuster action movies where the main character is like "I always wondered what my destiny was... now I know. my destiny is to solve a problem I was responsible for creating in the first act," it's so refreshing to have James Cameron come in and say "hello. the theme of this movie is that if you ever meet any member of the board of directors for an oil company, you should murder them. you should kill them as quickly as you can. it's good to do eco-terrorism." we get so few movies these days that are both absolutely wild thrill rides and also ideologically coherent with something to say about the world we live in.
