i like that on this nice little website I can Just Log Off for a while and generally not feel the need to check in on the nice little website. And when I do feel the need, all the posts are there, chronologically. I'll catch up with what I missed--or I simply won't because it doesn't feel like anything was missed. Nice to not care for one second about who follows/doesn't follow me or anyone else, or likes, or silencing some folks not out of annoyance but because i want the nice little website to keep foregrounding people I want to hear from. In fact it's hard to think of this as anything like "social media", although the term does apply. And forums isn't quite it either.

More like a pond filled with communal, bite-sized newsletters.

I kinda like it here.

in reply to @axel's post:

there's a few small QOL of life things I am missing from the garbage site but ultimately I really, really dig how calm it is here. even those features I'm craving, I'm not sure if they'd have unintended consequences.

(i.e, mutuals following ppl, its like, who cares? I used this as a safety check prev, but maybe we can just learn to navigate our own boundaries instead of going THIS PERSON IS FOLLOWED BY ALL MY FRIENDS THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT NOW :)

plus, nice to be on a site that doesn't have a char limit.. lol, I don't feel shitty bc i can't fit my thoughts into something Quippy. that site is very much so "yes, you COULD type 260 chars but... you should probably wrap it up by 130 or you're kind of embarassing"
