Kurara's tag team partners panicked when Thekla wouldn't let go of her after the bell rang; her arm could get broken. It was a tense scene reminiscent to me of older joshi. Afterwards Thekla pulled Kurara away from them, a possessive hold on her chin, and then threw her back down in disgust. She hasn't managed to scare her yet.
This is so good. I love - LOVE - this aspect of the whole Idol Killer thing. Bc that's the issue with a gimmick like that in wrestling, right, is that you're not actually gonna kill your opponents. So she has to break them, convince them that being an "idol" like that isn't worth the trouble of having to deal with her, at the very least. Kamitani is basically her best case scenario, but Kurara is her worst. Bc no matter how bad she beats her over and over, all Kurara has to do is Not Break. Their singles match at Korakuen was like a microcosm of their whole deal. Thekla has to completely destroy Kurara, smother her so thoroughly she'll either leave or become something completely different. But anything other than a resounding loss is a win for Kurara. Thekla doesn't know how to respond to the fact that being so determined to be Kurara's villain will make her into a hero, and it makes her mad.
