The world is under threat from the out-of-control supercomputer ZELDA (no relation) which has been trying to create genetically-modified humans in order to take over the world. Only one guy can save the world now... A Mighty Guy! Using his fists, feet and any weapons he can grab along with his energy-sapping PSYCHO GUN, Mighty Guy will fight the enemy waves and save humanity!
Oh hell yes, this is my favourite kind of Arcade Archives release- the kind I've never heard of before. You know it's an obscure one when ohfivepro has to dig stuff up- they found out the game originally used three buttons instead of two. I love this kind of stuff! The only thing I knew about before this rerelease was I vaguely remember this having big emulation problems in MAME in the past, mostly related to the sound. This release sounds fine as far as I can tell, and it's actually a neat little top-down action game, probably most similar to Capcom's Avengers from the end of the same year- you mostly use hand-to-hand combat, but you also have the ability to jump over obstacles, grab guns and, of course, the PSYCHO GUN which definitely isn't that thing from Cobra- holding both buttons lets you guide a projectile across the screen but this saps energy and you'll need to top it up. It's a tough game and has some other oddities like stages that wrap around horizontally forever, but it's pretty interesting! If you like top-down action games, this is worth a llook.
