beyond some gimmicky applications of game design, are there any practical use cases for vr as it currently stands? stuff that may have a tangible influence on a user's quality-of-life somehow?

that's a really good point. now that you mention, i often read the same these days from professional 3d artists.

i've never really gotten into 3d art, butβ€”as an art tool, it does seem pretty powerful and legit.

that's way more than nothing.

I tried teaching myself Blender a while ago, but not much really came from it. In fact, all I use those skills for nowadays is estimating sizes for things I want to buy to make sure they'll actually work for what I need them for (surprisingly useful), and maybe posing characters in stupid poses (would be useful if I ever bothered to learn about cloth physics or bone constraints).
