Yeah this exactly. I get not wanting metrics to be super visible but if it comes at the cost of the user experience I would rather have numbers

YEAH I wish you could see the tags people add to your posts when reblogging ...
Yeah like. I dunno I'm fine with no follower count and even likes but I at least wanna see what other people said in reblogs. I feel so isolated from everyone...
this is my third f8cking time trying to get into using cohost regularly and it still feels so weirdly isol8ting.
I was hoping that I just needed to learn to use the site properly. Disheartening to hear it's not just me.
Not sure if you know this, but it’s alright to ask the staff to change things. They’re not bad.
I wish the obfuscation of everything was at least optional, or that a user script could make up the gap for you. I actually like seeing the numbered metrics on my art, That sort of numerical feedback from my followers is really helpful on other platforms. I liked seeing likes and reading tags and knowing people enjoy what I'm putting out. If I wasn't interested in sharing my art and having it be viewed by a bunch of people, I just wouldn't post it. And for the most part I haven't been posting my art here because it doesn't feel like there's any point to it.
having posted some art here, agreed very much; plus numeric metrics help with gauging what kinda art people are interested in and through that getting ideas for more etc.
i post art exclusively here mostly because i'm kinda practicing and specifically want a really small audience due to that to kinda test the waters, but probably will move to bsky or mastodon for it when i'm like, comfortable with it possible being more widely seen
and like i do get the wellness side of it, it's easy to get addicted to number go up, and it can also cause anxiety, but also i think due to that it should be optional; wellness features that limit functionality in ways like that should be by choice, not forced, imo
as someone with "numbers go up good" autism i agree. i understand that "number go up" makes a lot of ppl anxious, it would just be nice to have the OPTION to turn it on. something to bring up to the devs pershats?
gennnnnuinely. if they dont change that i cant see myself using this site longterm. i just dont know where else to go is the problem :/
it's something that takes getting used to, in my experience, though it might have more to do with actually knowing some folks here. like, the lack of metrics is comforting to me bc it reduces the focus on number go up, which i think is an unhealthy way to conceptualise social interaction
you can't see what other people say in reblogs?? ugh that sucks
Yeah my bad I misunderstood what people want.
I personally see this as a good design decision. Having the fact I've interacted with a post be forever attached to it is very panopticon-esque. Staff is working on discoverability features that are hopefully even better than that part of Tumblr without the potential for abuse or doomscrolling.
