tumblrs ai deal is garbage cuz in the current climate artists can't really opt out unless they want to move to twitter (musk) or twitter (butterfly) and still get commissions, so consent is automatically revoked or conditional at best. im not fully anti ai art but i see it as a tool that is currently mainly used to hurt artists, both as workers and as hobbyists. in an ideal world its only function the way ai generated anime girl site did or like automated picrew or for gay sex cats, as a tool for fun that could develop into a tool for art, but never as a weapon against people. anyway, i do hope it brings more people to cohost because i mainly stay on tumblr for signal boosting, spreading info, and fanart. id also accept if enough people move to pillowfort that i have reason to use my defunct account, but i like cohost more so id prefer here.
