RIP Cohost 2024. You were the best social media site to have ever been done. Long live eggbug. If you're seeing this in the future, on some archive, be kind to others. It's the only way things get better.

A Windows searcher that, if I understand it correctly, achieves near-instant search results of any drives you specify (including networked drives) by initially building an index of your files, presenting that at base, and using the search as a filter.

Which is exactly what I thought Windows Indexing was supposed to do, re: an index. Guess not. Or MS changed it. Either way. It's built-for-purpose, and that purpose is max speed, minimum footprint.

I read the comment of someone who changed their whole digital organisation method because of it; they started using filenames as a tagging system, and would filter in Everything after that, with perhaps some scant folder usage on the side.

Tempting, honestly. Folder-nesting and constant sorting and slow searching and duplicates and so on requires so much manual work, even and especially in modern Windows environments (out of the box, at least).

Might try it out even as a tool to help me find and wrangle what I've already got.

Everything is an amazing tool, and is one of the first things I add to a Windows install. I like searching for a particular file extension sorted by most recently modified, but it's also just good for searching
