EDIT: GOAL REACHED WITHIN MINUTES, WHAT THE FUCK
OKAY THANK YOU. WOW.
Feels gross to post this, however:
As some of you know I got made devastatingly homeless almost a year ago. I ended up on the streets with no access to the dutch welfare system because I'm british. With everyone's help I ended up moving back to the UK, sleeping on my mother's couch and slowly saving to get my own place. Then I got tossed out in early November.
For the last two months I've been renting a room from the homeless department. It costs more than half my income just to rent it, it's not covered by the support renters get from the welfare system, and it was completely unfurnished. I had to buy everything to make it livable (window coverings, a wardrobe, a table, chairs, shelving units, bed linen, plates and cutlery etc). Unforeseen expenses seem to happen every week, and I have £350 a month after rent to do all this, clothe myself, and feed myself. Hell, this week my bike's brakes finally gave out, so that's another £50 expense.
My problem is that I can't store food. We have one freezer compartment the size of a car glovebox for seven people. Anything not-frozen left in the communal kitchen gets stolen in about four hours. As a result I can't really cook anything, I'm living on microwave & oven ready food. It's expensive and really unhealthy.
~~The obvious answer is to put a mini-fridge with an ice box in my room, but with the expenses I'm facing right now I don't have the cash flow. I'm gonna need people's help to buy one, if you're willing. ~~
I can get one for £155 delivered from Argos. Buying used isn't an option as I've no car to collect.
I don't expect anyone to swoop in and give me a big chunk, but I'd be very grateful for anything people could contribute.
EDIT: HOLY FUCK
