Oh the other hand, Skull and Bones is dogshit!
It's literal garbage. It's not even worthy of being called offal. 11 years of failed development, and all they could churn out was putrid slop with a coat of graphics. Ships have stamina. You do little timed minigames to collect resources from your ship when near land. There's barely any walkaround, despite all these cosmetics for your pirate. Cannonfire sounds fucking awful, like someone thumping a desk with their fist. Dialogue is terrible in both writing and VA quality.
Online-only, scrapped offline singleplayer, extremely arcadey combat, no boarding - just a fucking 'BOARD ACTION SUCCESSFUL' screen or whatever it says, treating the ship basically as a slow awkwardly-modelled player character. No control over sails, no actual boat mechanics or sailing, just inertia-movement...
I truly, truly hope it closes within the same year it launched. No ill will to the devs themselves, but I sure as shit hope Ubisoft upper management fucking suffer for it (they won't, most likely, but I can dream.)
All they had to - ALL THEY HAD TO DO - was make a game that was AC:Black Flag, but without the AC part. Just, take the pirate part of that game, and expand it. Let us board ships and fight. Swing from one to the other. Black Flag + Sea of Thieves. That's it babeeeyy. Print money.
I'm in the credits, under Special Thanks. I left the project four years ago, which was enough time to work on two whole other games!
