but when are we gonna get to the Immersed in a liquid vat stage of medical tech?
Ironically, we have a weirder and less visually cool, but wildly more dangerous version of this IRL, that is almost as effective.
You just might explode first, in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber!
I'm not a Knowledgeable Boy, but I have read that hyperbaric oxygen therapy, when managed correctly, can drastically speed up stubborn wound healing, especially for internal wounds that can't be treated normally. Like, the list of things it can successfully treat or help is so long and varied it almost seems implausible.
The only problem is, unlike fun-skinny-dipping-in-bacta, it's a tank you get into... Filled with 2-3x atmosphere pressurized pure oxygen.
Pure oxygen itself is not combustible or explosive. It will, however, oxidize everything, and make everything it touches that much more flammable that it turns it into an explosive. Even just, like, ashphalt.
So you're basically getting into distilled explosion, and... Exploding your wounds to heal them. IDK I'm not a medical.
