RIP Cohost 2024. You were the best social media site to have ever been done. Long live eggbug. If you're seeing this in the future, on some archive, be kind to others. It's the only way things get better.

Spoilers for Loki/Marvel/etc, but I'm fairly sure few folks care enough for me to spoiler it fully.

Like... I stopped watching Marvel in a broad sense after the main plotline concluded with Endgame, was never big on the TV shows except the bangers (Wandavision), it was already oversaturated by then anyway, muh cinema, et al.

But I like the oddities that resonate with me. I enjoy Dr Strange, b/c apparently in my 30's I'm going through a huge Wizards-Are-Dope-Actually time of my life. I like Loki b/c Hiddleston's enjoyable to watch, and I like the shenanigans.

But apparently the end of Loki S02, based on viewing by some execs(?), ends with setting up (a version of) Kang The Conqueror as the protagonist (the term used was 'Star', but surely that doesn't mean villain again) of the next major Avengers film - specifically the next big main-line film (not The Marvels).

They got fucked (good) by the Writer's Strike not allowing them rewrites/reshoots before it was too late. They do not think it's gonna be a great direction for the MCU in general.

And, honestly? Good. Let the golden goose die, please. You've made enough money. You could literally just do What-If shows/movies for ~3yrs and folks would be just as entertained, w/o the burden of a continuing MCU.

I don't care for Marvel in general anymore; oversaturation. I did enjoy it, mostly the movies (never did the shows), up to and including End-Game. Fell off after that. Watched mostly only what interested me, which was little - Dr Strange, Spiderman, maybe a few others here and there. And I'm aware of the Stock Image Used In AI Art Poster drama around the show atm. This is unrelated to that specifically.

I enjoyed Loki Season 1. I love media that try to grapple with time travel. But I was entirely ambivalent on anything further. Haven't watched Quantumania, but I know the gist of what's happening.

Surpised to report that I'm still drawn in by S02E01. Still manages to be interesting, to me. It's also very beautifully crafted. The 'time radiation' effect was a bit... Mediocre, very Dr-Who-Plain, but the rest? The Temporal Loom, etc? All veeeeerry cool.

That's all.
