Eggbug was here. Eggbug mattered.

RIP Cohost 2024. You were the best social media site to have ever been done. Long live eggbug. If you're seeing this in the future, on some archive, be kind to others. It's the only way things get better.

She's like a living lucky dip. A bit of a hoarder, but not dangerously so. She often brings me old boxes of stuff, kind of a "keep or toss" deal. Sometimes it's a whole-ass 200L box full of old Tweetie-Bird-With-Person-Name mugs, something for which I have neither use nor want, sometimes it's garbage masquerading as a thing, that instantly disintegrates the moment it's activated.

Sometimes she drops a 60 year old Kenwood Chef A701A Stand Mixer in my lap, (which hurts bc it's fucking 9kg of cast metal frame) and I can do naught but revel in my good fortune and be thankful.

This thing is wild, friends. There are still replacement parts available, it has like 15 different attachments, including "Juice Centrifuge", and can basically do any kitchen task that would benefit from a chonky motor and gearbox.

In the 1960's, the A701A retailed for 30 guineas, the precursor to GBP, or £31/10 (31 pounds 10 shillings) in 1960's prices. Today, that's £860GBP, or $1560AUD.

Which, to be fair, I would absolutely pay for any versatile high quality appliance that will keep on chugging 60+ years down the line.

Fuck planned obsolescence.

Gotta give it a full service tho. Disassembly, full clean and regrease, replace the power cord, and make sure the motor brushes are good.

Then... Bread. (Might need to get the actual dough hook attachment tho.)
