i wonder what kinda analysis went into going all-in on eggbux. feels as though “payment processors ban us” would be a clear threat, high retention and high engagement alongside continued site growth a clear strength, though with the obvious caveat that putting 100% of your time into eggbux would come with a significant risk of hurting that

i think the analysis was simple, cohost is very small, and eggbux is the most direct route to profitability. payment processors didn’t even ban cohost directly through this, but instead banned cohost by technicality. they directly targeted sites like kofi and cohost was just caught in the crossfire, and that’s kinda really it. nobody could reasonably expect payment processors to ban the entire concept of online tips, that feels like the type of thing that opens you up to regulation.
